My '79 LTD sidecover has screws holding it onto the frame instead of those plastic tabs that plug in.

I have never seen a setup like this before.  Was this stock or?

Thanks, Mike

I have an '82 KZ1000 and just replaced the cylinder head with one that 'chance' sent me.

When cold, the engine will turn over slowly and then it will start. But after running even for just a minute, if I try to restart it, it either barely turns over or not at all. After trying to start it this morning, the starter wire got very hot and started smoking.

The battery is a few months old and I charged it overnight.

When I replaced the cylinder head, I didn't do anything with the pistons, rings, or cylinder block.

I am certain that...

Anyone try one of those colortune sparks plugs with the window in them?

I did some research and it looked good, so I picked one up and will give it a shot this week.  Anyone have any advice or comments on it?

Thanks.

Hey gents,
I am on the look out for a decent set of piggy back shocks & an alloy swing arm (preferably under braced)For my 1977 z1000A1
I dont want to spend £500 GBP on new ohlins or the same again on a new Metmachex.
Must be something out there taking up space 0- that someone wants to clear ?? Grin

The shocks need to be around 350mm to 375mm eye to eye.

Anyone  anywhere

Cheers
Stu

I removed the Kerker pipe from my KZ1000 and noted some idiot had used the wrong pitch nuts to attach it.  The correct pitch is 8mm x 1.25.

Having read about "chasing the threads" etc. on the internet, I went to the hardware store and picked up a 8mm x 1.25 die for $5 bucks.  Careful to start it on the exhaust stud squarely, once it got going it scraped out the scrap metal that was stuck between the threads.    There were three studs that were messed up and I had them all fixed within 5 minutes.  That was way easier than replacing the studs!

Hi I just took my carbs apart for cleaning and adjustment yesterday.

Here's what I found inside:

Carbs for cylinders 1 and 4 have slides with the 2.0 cutaway.  These slides have spacers and springs.

Carbs for cylinders 2 and 3 have slides with 1.5 cutaway.  No spacers and springs, just the slide, needle and clip.

Is that normal or did someone sell me a bike with leftover parts stuck together in the carbs?

The KZ has a Kerker pipe, pods and 22.5 pilots.  The needles were in the middle clip so I raised each needle...

Hey guys noticed y tach light is out. i checked inside the headlight bucket for bad connections and replaced the bulbs but no go. All the bulbs are not working in the tach, everything else on the bike works good. Would this be a ground problem and where would be a good place to look for problems? Thanks for any help.
