Hi I just took my carbs apart for cleaning and adjustment yesterday.

Here's what I found inside:

Carbs for cylinders 1 and 4 have slides with the 2.0 cutaway.  These slides have spacers and springs.

Carbs for cylinders 2 and 3 have slides with 1.5 cutaway.  No spacers and springs, just the slide, needle and clip.

Is that normal or did someone sell me a bike with leftover parts stuck together in the carbs?

The KZ has a Kerker pipe, pods and 22.5 pilots.  The needles were in the middle clip so I raised each needle to make it one step richer.

Also it came with 150 mains.  I went to the local shop looking for 120's.  He had 2 left so I bought those for cyls 1 and 4 and bought 122.5's for cyls 2-3.

The bike had started and ran but was pretty weak when I opened the throttle, I hope getting more gas in the midrange fixes it.

Also, the accelerator pump is working but those little brass sprayers in the carb throat were blocked by gunk.  I managed to get them cleared for cyls 2-4.  The sprayer for cyl 1 is partially blocked, I was thinking of heating it up with a match or a lighter to try and dislodge the junk inside it and then spray some more carb cleaner.

Any suggestions are appreciated!

Thanks, Mike

The carbs can't work properly with the different slides and different jet needles (probably) and who knows what else. Are these VM26 w/pump or VM28 w/pump? Last, the carbs sound BADLY over jetted.

It is often difficult to clear the little nozzles that sit in the throat of the carbs... you can heat and spray but that only works sometimes. If I have problems, I replace the nozzles from spares.

I measured the carb throats at the engine side - came out to about 27mm??  It's just a ruler, could be off by a mm.

The clogged sprayer cleared pretty easily with some heat from a lighter.  I heated it for about 15 seconds, let it cool and blasted some carb cleaner through.  Wow I should have done that first with all of the sprayers, would have saved some time.

As for the needles, I didn't take a close look - it's possible they don't match either.  Well I'll put the carbs on the bike today and see how it runs.

Do you sell replacement slides and needles or should I shop e-bay?
