Hey gents,
I am on the look out for a decent set of piggy back shocks & an alloy swing arm (preferably under braced)For my 1977 z1000A1
I dont want to spend £500 GBP on new ohlins or the same again on a new Metmachex.
Must be something out there taking up space 0- that someone wants to clear ?? Grin

The shocks need to be around 350mm to 375mm eye to eye.

Anyone  anywhere

Cheers

Chance,
No I didnt think of the GS, are they a bolt on fit?
I thought the GS were steel tubular similar to the Zed ?

I was contemplating a ZX7R set up,but would prefer the period Davida, Metmachex or Dresda.

I am looking at a set of piggy back shocks from a Zepher, but they will need totaly refurbed, seals, stripped & painted-- chrome looks good though,so at £30GBP I might go that way on the shocks.

Cheers

A new importer in the US carries YSS shocks:

www.yssusa.com

They have a variety of types which might suit.

As far as the swingarm, the early GSs had tube swingarms that look just like a Kaw but perhaps a tad longer. The later ones were box aluminum and more go-fast guys want these.

The Metchamex and the Davida Moto swing arms looked virtually identical although there is one major difference , The Metchamex was made of alloy and The Davida Moto was made of steel.
Quote..
The 1 on the bike is Davida moto the red one is a Dresda.
copy the guy makes them from his real one like 275.00

Yeahaaaaa
Evilbay has come good for me !!!!
Today I purchased my deep braced Metmachex alloy swing arm....Price ... £147 +£12 postage Grin Grin
Should be with me next week.
Not sure yet what wheels to fit , but I am looking at a FZR1100 front end with upside downies & FZR Rear wheel.
I do need to check if my new swing arm will accept the FZR wheel, but I am fairly sure it will.
Pic attached of my "steal"

Will post pics soon

grandpaul,
ZRX forks are a little too short on length (the ones I have checked on)
At present my z1000 is 31.5" top to centre of axle.
The FZR is 30.5"

I want to try & keep the higher front / lower back style.
If I go with the FZR with 17" wheels and fabricate a billet alloy offset top yoke,I can drop the tube locaters by around 1 1/2" to 1 3/4" to bring the front back to near enough standard.

With the ZRX I would need to offset the top yoke much further and I dont think it would look quite right.

Not settled as yet by far... so I am still looking for options, but thanks for the input.

Regards
